Although there are many helpful resources available for discovering your purpose, one of the most powerful methods I found on my journey was prayer. Not just any prayer—intentional prayer.
Today, I want to share those 5 intentional prayers with you as I am confident they will help you in your pursuit of purpose.

As I’ve stated earlier, there are countless resources out there that could help you find your purpose. There’s various things, such as tests, quizzes and questionnaires. You have various blog posts available filled with helpful information, etc., but I believe a highly-effective way is through intentional and specific prayers.
Aside from those resources, you may have come across people saying things like: dig deep within yourself, write out all your strengths or talents, etc. And while I agree with many of those things, prayer is still at the very top of the list when it comes to effectively discovering your purpose.
5 Intentional Prayers to Uncover Your Purpose
What makes prayer so powerfully effective is that you’re seeking God—the One who uniquely and intentionally created you on purpose, for a purpose, with a purpose. When God made you He ingrained purpose deep within you, and it’s your responsibility to dig deep and uncover that for your life. What better way than through prayer with The Creator?!
Here, is a compilation of some very specific prayers that I’ve prayed while in intentional pursuit of my own purpose, years ago. I’ve learned that being intentional and specific about what I wanted God to share with me regarding my purpose was key in discovering it.
Prayer # 1
Heavenly Father, Thank you for purpose. Thank you for creating me on purpose, for a purpose, and with a purpose to fulfill for your glory. As I seek you with intention, I ask that you grant me wisdom, insight, and clarity. Enlighten the eyes of my understanding and reveal what you have called me to do. Order my steps and let your perfect will be done in me and through me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Prayer #2
Heavenly Father, God I come before you with a thankful heart and spirit. Thank you for filling me with your divine purpose. I pray Lord, that you will lead and guide me. Show me the way that you want me to go. Help me to see those things that you are calling me to do and fulfill in your kingdom. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Prayer #3
Heavenly Father, Thank you for your divine purpose. Draw me closer to you and help me to truly know you. Teach me to understand your will for my life, that I may please you and walk in your ways. Keep me, O Lord, and keep my eyes stayed on you. Give me a heart that fully trusts you in all things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Prayer #4
Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of life. I pray that you would help me to steward and cultivate every spiritual and natural gift you have placed within me. Let my life align with your plan and purpose. Lead me and guide me in the way I should go. Help me to walk worthy of the calling in which I am called. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Prayer #5
Heavenly Father, Thank you for creating me with intention, and for placing purpose within my life before I was born. I pray that you will reveal more of your plan for me day by day and guide me into the calling that you have prepared for me. Help me to walk in obedience, faith, and confidence as I pursue the purpose you have placed on my life. Remove every fear, doubt, distraction, and limitation that tries to keep me from becoming who you created me to be. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
The key, as you intentionally pray these prayers, is to consistently pray. This isn’t a one-and-done type of thing, but it calls for a consistent continuation of prayer. And don’t forget to mix these prayers with faith.
