5 Reasons Your Prayers Are Not Being Answered

Have you been praying, yet it seems like your prayers are not reaching God? I’ve been there many times. Tirelessly praying, yet still no answer. Maybe you’ve wondered if you prayed the right way, said the right things, or even prayed long enough. Sometimes things will try to plague your mind when you’ve been praying for things that still hasn’t happened. There’s several reasons why it may seem like your prayers have only gone as far as your ceiling, but today I’m going to talk about 5 reasons your prayers are not being answered.

5 Reasons for Unanswered Prayers:

1. You Don’t Believe What You’re Praying For.

One of the most important things as a Christian is to believe by faith. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “Without faith it is impossible to please God…”

When you go before God in prayer you must first believe what you are asking Him for, Mark 11:24. This is what faith is. The bible tells us that when we ask for anything in Jesus’ name, if we believe, we shall receive it. If your faith is not connected with what you are praying for, your prayers will not reach God, let alone be answered.

2. It’s Not the Right Time or Season for You to Have it.

It is our human nature to want things to happen as soon as we pray for them. We want overnight answers. We don’t want to wait! Let’s not talk about the “P” word, patience. We despise practicing patience sometimes because we want what we want, when we want it.

There are times when you may pray for something, but it’s just not the right time for it to manifest in your life. God reminds us in His word that there is a time and a season for everything, Ecclesiastes 3:1. Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean that it will never happen. This is why it’s important to pray God’s will for your life, which takes us to the third reason of why your prayers are not being answered.

3. It’s Not God’s Will for Your Life.

Praying for things according to God’s will for your life is significant. You must be careful about what you pray for because what you are seeking may not be God’s best for you.

The bible tells us that if we abide in Him, and His words abide in us, We shall ask what we will and it will be done for us, John 15:7. This means that as you continually abide in Jesus, your personal will eventually becomes the will of God for your life, at least it should if you are truly walking by the spirit of God. You will begin to ask God for things that are according to His will and not of your own desires. This is the true transformative power of praying God’s will in your life.

Praying for things that will distract you from God are not things that God wants to bless you with. You have to trust that God knows what’s best for you. Seek His will for your life and watch the things that you pray for begin to manifest into your life.

4. You Are Not Persistently Praying.

Praying for something once is not enough. God wants you to be persistent in what you are praying for. The same tenacity you have when working towards a goal or to complete an important project, is the same persistence you need to express when seeking God for something, Matthew 7:7-8.

Many people think they have to beg God for things. There’s an immense distinction between begging and persistently asking for things. God wants to see how much you truly desire what you are praying for and how much you believe Him to do it.

5. Your intentions Are Not Pure.

We serve a God who sees our heart. When you go before God in prayer, your heart and intentions must be pure. If you are praying for something that is against the nature of God or against someone else in a bad way, God will not honor your request because your heart is not right. If you are praying spitefully with bad intentions, God will not open His ear to your voice.

Praying for something only for others to see it, with the intention to make them envious, jealous, or covetous are things with impure intentions. The same as praying for something with selfish intentions so that you will get the glory out of it, is not of God. Ensuring that your heart is clean before the Lord is the only way that God will hear you.

As you begin to consider these 5 Reasons Your Prayers Are Not Being Answered, I pray that it will encourage you to examine your prayers. If any of these five things apply to you, I hope you will carefully consider these as a guide to begin changing how you go before God in prayer. I am confident you will begin to see a shift in your prayers being answered.

Always remember that God is a loving and giving God. He does not want to withhold any good thing from you. All you have to do is continue to believe, keep your heart + intentions pure, stay persistent in your prayers, seek His will for your life, and wait with patience.
